Flight delay compensation in Albania

Passengers departing from the EU/EEA (and some arriving flights operated by EU carriers) may be protected by EU rules commonly known as EC 261/2004. If your flight was significantly delayed, cancelled, or you were denied boarding, you could be entitled to compensation or care. AATA provides plain-language guidance and points you to trusted help.

Typical scenarios covered: long delays, last-minute cancellations, missed connections due to airline issues, and denied boarding due to overbooking. Weather, strikes by airport staff, or ATC restrictions can affect eligibility.

When are you eligible?

  • Delay thresholds: Typically 3+ hours on arrival for compensation; shorter delays may still trigger care (meals, refreshment).
  • Route and carrier: EU/EEA departures are generally in scope; arrivals to the EU may be in scope when operated by an EU carrier.
  • Airline responsibility: Events within the airline’s control are more likely to qualify; extraordinary circumstances may not.

Note: This page is informational and not legal advice. Eligibility depends on the facts of each case.
